Here are some experimental drawings on black paper for you to color. You are welcome to choose either the black or the white version.
Aside from just having fun, coloring is a very useful way to experiment with new ideas. I don’t know about you but sometimes I get hung up doing the things with which I am familiar. It is easier; failure is less likely with familiar techniques and materials. Repeating a technique to the point of mastery is an important part of being a professional artist. Sometimes, I allow my pursuit of mastery stifle my creativity. Continual exploration and discovery are vital to both artistic and intellectual growth. Personally, I search for a balance between technical mastery and control on the one hand and risk taking on the other.
What do you do to keep your work fresh and challenging?
I really enjoyed this post. I think it is so inspiring to hear how you push yourself to try new things.
I am glad you enjoyed it; reading, on your blog, about your passion and drive are an inspiration, too.
